The expected longevity is a few years as the pigment tends to stick really well on lips. It is safe to start out natural and go darker at touch-up.

Am I a good candidate for Blush Lip Tattoo?
***Fever blisters are a common side effect of lip tattooing. If you have any history of fever blisters, cold sores (even if it has been years ago), shingles or chickenpox, it is recommended that you call your primary care provider for antiviral medications and to take prior to and after your appointment. Take it as prescribed by your pcp. Any active cold sores will require a reschedule. This is important because if these instructions are not followed or if information is withheld, you may end up with fever blister outbreaks all over your lip during the healing period.*

What is the process for Blush Lip Tattoo?
Once you have read through the FAQ and signed consent, we will first draw your lips with a pencil and even out the border of your lips if needed. I will ONLY start the semi permanent tattoo process once you have approved the shape and color of choice that is fit for you. Once you have finalized your decision, we will begin the semi permanent tattoo process. You will be numbed before and during the procedure with topical anesthetic to make sure you are comfortable the whole time. Expect a booking time of 3 hours.
What should I do before my appointment?
To ensure the best retention, it is recommended to exfoliate the lips a week prior to procedure by using a small toothbrush or washcloth. After exfoliating, apply vaseline or aquaphor for moisture. The more soft and moist your lips are, the easier it is to implant the pigment. If you have an ideal color in mind, bring or send few reference photos.
Avoid any blood thinning medication day of treatment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, and Ibuprofen.
Do not consume ANY alcohol for at least 24 hours prior your appointment. Avoid smoking if possible as it will delay healing.
When can I schedule my touch-up appointment?
Touchup appointment can be scheduled at 8-12 weeks. For lips, it takes up to 8 weeks for the full results to show and the color to surface. This is optional. Touch-up session is considered a perfection session to go over any spots that did not pick up the pigment well or if you would like to go darker/bigger etc. If you are happy with the results, no need to schedule a touchup appointment.

Expect some redness and swelling right after the procedure. After procedure, your lips will appear too dark and unnatural. It will heal and lighten by 30-50%.
1. Day 1-7 Gently clean the area by dabbing cool water on your lips with a clean cotton pad or swab. After cleaning, make sure to pat your lips dry with a clean tissue. Use ice pack to help with swelling day 1-2.
After cleaning, use a cotton swab to apply a very thing coat of lip ointment we provide. It is recommended to use lip ointment 3-5 times a day for 2 weeks. Your lips will feel chapped and dry for 2-3 weeks.
2. Week 1: The lips begin the cracking and peeling stage. This is completely normal.
3. Week 2-4: Lip may appear light for the first month and appear too light.
4. Week 8: Color takes up to 8 weeks for the full color to show.
It is crucial that during the healing period that you maintain facial hygiene and AVOID:
AVOID Water on your lips in the shower, only clean lips as needed by dabbing cool water on lips and pat dry.
AVOID eating foods that can potentially irritate the skin (i.e. spicy, hot, oily, salty, acidic, seafood, etc). Make sure to gently clean your lips and rinse your mouth after each meal.
NO KISSING UNTIL PEELING STAGE IS OVER.
DO not cover your lips with masks, bandages, plastic wrap, etc.
NO swimming, hot yoga, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, or tanning bed for 10 days
Touching or picking the lips (apply ointment with Q-tip). Picking can lead to color loss, scarring and infection (especially if hands are not clean).
Any makeup on the area
Workouts that involve a lot of sweating; sauna, facial massage and steaming
Sun tanning or salon tanning; swimming; excessive sun exposure (wear a hat when outside for a longer period)

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE HEALING PERIOD:
Your lips will start to darken over the next couple of days and this is normal. Keep in mind that your lips will lighten by 30-50% depending on your skin type.
At day 3-5, you can expect your lips to itch and flake. Your lips will look like dandruff flakes or dry skin. When the flakes fall off, some areas of the lips may appear too light but with time, the color will resurface. It is crucial that you do not pick/touch your lips to avoid color loss, possible scarring and infection.
Total lip healing time is 14 days. You may resume normal activities at 14 days.
After 14 days, lips may be light as if they were never done. Final result and color will be at 8 weeks. Please trust the healing process and give it the full time it needs before judging the results.
IN THE NEXT 30 DAYS:
Avoid sunbathing, solarbrium, light therapies, chemical peelings, fruit acids, microdermabrasion, creams that contain regeneration factors. Use of antibiotics and hormonal therapy can speed pigment fading.
After 14 days, apply sunscreen to the brows when exposed to sunlight to promote longevity. Other ways to extend the color of your brows: being gentle around the brow area when washing your face or when exfoliating avoid the brow area.
Always avoid laser treatments over the treated area (fraxel, laser, IPL) because it can destroy the pigments.
TOUCH UP APPOINTMENT:
A touchup session is considered a perfection session to fill in any spots that did not take pigment well. Touchups are recommended as everyone heals differently. It can be scheduled between at 8-12 weeks as it takes up to 8 weeks for full results. Any appointments scheduled after 12 weeks from the initial procedure may results in extra charges. New procedures are a two step process and final results are sometimes not guaranteed until a follow visit is completed.
***Please keep in mind that results are not 100% guaranteed because everyone’s skin takes permanent makeup differently. But every effort will be made to ensure satisfaction.
